Participatory design and planning? This is us!
A bunch of us come from design fields. Others come from social sciences, anthropology, management and economics. One crucial thing we’ve learned working together is that user-centric projects always go beyond “space”. This is why we don’t “master” plans and it is also why we always allow participation to lead design.

urbz travaille sur un plan global pour le siège du Comité international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR) à Genève. Environ 1200 personnes travaillent à Genève et 20 000 autres travaillent dans plus de 100 zones de conflit dans le monde.
urbz is working on a comprehensive plan for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) HQ in Geneva. About 1200 people work in Geneva and another 20,000 work in over 100 conflict zones around the world.

L'équipe d'urbz travaille avec la Fédération internationale des sociétés de la Croix-Rouge et du Croissant-Rouge (IFRC) à Genève sur un aménagement paysager participatif impliquant le personnel, les voisin·e·s et les partenaires.
The urbz team is working with the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent societies (IFRC) in Geneva on a participatory landscape design involving staff, neighbors and partners.

Dharavi works is a series of projects designed in Mumbai by urbz in partnership with local inhabitants and contractors.

This project is undertaken under the C40 Women For Climate mentorship program, Mumbai in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra. The Mentee, Vidisha Dhar, is supported by Lubaina Rangwala (WRI), urbz collective and Anamika Sarker, a student of built environment at the Jindal School of Art and Architecture.

Remember the Urban Typhoon workshops in Kochi? These workshops were part of the EnteKochi citylab. We are now back with the Entekochi competition. This is a national level Urban Design Competition, aiming to jointly ‘design the future city’ of Kochi. It is envisaged to plan and then facilitate the implementation of an integrated civic project.

urbz has been involved with the heritage precinct of Khotachiwadi for nearly a decade. We have organized many events workshops there and produced a strategic plan for the area among other things.
