La Fédération Internationale de la Croix-Rouge a confié à l'urbz le mandat de piloter une approche participative pour l'élaboration d'un plan paysager et d'un avant-projet pour l'aménagement du parc des organismes l'ouvrant à l'usage communautaire ainsi que le bien-être de son personnel. Le projet s’est construit en interaction avec le personnel de la FICR, les habitants, les écoliers, les associations locales, l'expertise technique spécialisée ainsi que de multiples services de la Confédération et la Ville et du Canton de Genève.
Le processus a été fortement motivé par des facteurs environnementaux et la reconnaissance de la valeur existante des espaces verts qui ont évolué au fil du temps en s'appuyant sur le patrimoine de leur origine dans le cadre d'un domaine avec une maison de maître. Le site représente une grande valeur patrimoniale pour le centre du village du Petit Saconnex avec les portails historiques donnant sur la place du Village, symbole identitaire du territoire. Le site représente également une immense valeur patrimoniale pour Genève et la Suisse qui est toujours vivante en tant que siège de la FICR depuis 1959, une organisation à la fois locale et internationale.
Le croisement des informations liées au patrimoine (paysager et bâti) et à la biodiversité ainsi que l'identification des usages existantes, des besoins et des désirs du personnel de la FICR et de la communauté environnante ont permis l'articulation d'un programme et de principes d'aménagement qui ont servi de cadre à l'élaboration d'un plan paysager et d'un Avant-projet.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) commissioned urbz to lead a participatory approach to the development of a landscape plan and a preliminary design for the development of the organisations' park, opening it up to community use and ensuring the well-being of its staff. The project was developed in interaction with IFRC staff, local residents, schoolchildren, local associations, specialist technical expertise and numerous departments of the Confederation and the City and Canton of Geneva.
The process was strongly motivated by environmental factors and recognition of the existing value of the green spaces, which have evolved over time, building on the heritage of their origins as part of an estate with a manor house. The site represents great heritage value for the centre of the village of Petit Saconnex, with its historic gates opening onto the Place du Village, a symbol of the area's identity. The site also represents immense heritage value for Geneva and Switzerland, which is still alive as the headquarters of the IFRC since 1959, an organisation that is both local and international.
Cross-referencing information relating to heritage (landscape and built heritage) and biodiversity, as well as identifying existing uses and the needs and desires of IFRC staff and the surrounding community, enabled a programme and development principles to be drawn up, which served as a framework for drawing up a landscape plan and a preliminary project.

Remember the Urban Typhoon workshops in Kochi? These workshops were part of the EnteKochi citylab. We are now back with the Entekochi competition. This is a national level Urban Design Competition, aiming to jointly ‘design the future city’ of Kochi. It is envisaged to plan and then facilitate the implementation of an integrated civic project.
