A Participatory Plan for the ICRC

urbz was selected on the basis of an international call for tenders to support the ICRC and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in the redevelopment of the Hill of Pregny. The ICRC employs nearly 20,000 people worldwide and around 1,500 in Geneva, its main headquarters, its operational center and the symbolic heart of the organization, which overlooks that of the United Nations. The ICRC is facing new challenges, including the transformation of offices into flexible spaces, the integration of hybrid systems for remote working, the construction of a memorial and the redevelopment of the museum.

As part of this mandate, urbz has implemented a participatory approach across the organization. The approach has brought out a shared vision and a program for the redevelopment of the site. An interactive exhibition in situ allowed us for a month to validate this vision. Following this, the urbz team translated the vision and the program into a guiding image and co-managed with the ICRC a project team made up of landscapers, mobility engineers and civil engineer
