Documenting Process: The IFRC Project
This article narrates the entire participatory process organized for the IFRC Park Project through a series of videos.
The IFRC is the world’s largest humanitarian network. It supports local Red Cross and Red Crescent action in more than 192 countries, bringing together almost 15 million volunteers for the good of humanity.
Its HQ is based in Geneva, Switzerland and has about 350 staff. It is situated on a 13,000 m2 plot comprising a large terrace, a garden and a small forest.
The IFRC reached out to urbz to help turn their plot into a Red Cross Park open to the public. Between September 2022 and February 2023 we interviewed 60 neighbors and resource people; organized 14 park visits; 7 public discussions; 5 exhibitions; and 4 workshops.
The entire process was documented by the urbz Paris team, who developed a website dedicated to the project, produced over 20 videos and wrote over 30 blog posts to make sure everyone within the IFRC community and neighborhood was aware of the process.
In March 2023 we presented our pre-project designs to the IFRC, institutional partners and the neighbors. We are excited to continue working with the IFRC for the next steps - fundraising and implementation!
